Dell XPS system issue repair
An XPS that will not start, shuts down under load, or throws blue screens needs a split diagnosis: power and thermals, storage health, RAM, then mainboard if those check out. We do not swap random parts to see what sticks.
What you might notice
- No POST, black screen, but fans spin (often RAM, storage, or BIOS corruption).
- Thermal throttle or sudden power-off in games or exports (paste, fans, VRM).
- Random reboots after sleep (driver stack, sometimes battery or board).
How we narrow it
We log temperature curves, read SMART on the SSD, seat RAM properly, and test with known-good peripherals where it saves time. On USB-C only charge models we rule out charger and port before we blame the board.
Repair paths
Depending on findings we may replace fans, paste pads, SSD, battery, or DC-in / daughterboard. Liquid and shorts get their own strip-down; we quote corrosion work separately when we open it.
You leave with a clear note of what failed, what we changed, and what to watch for next.
